NextStep's annual Wheelchair for a Day challenge is a global effort to raise awareness about accessibility issues, the daily challenges associated with living in a wheelchair, and to educate the public about the lack of affordable, progressive, and ongoing rehabilitation services. The goal is to engage the public to be supportive of those with disabilities and to raise funds to help NextStep in its mission to expand to communities nationwide. Wheelchair for a Day (WFD) challenges able-bodied people to spend one day in a wheelchair and to share their experience on social media through videos, photos, and stories. Each participant's journey will be shared on NextStep's official social media channels. Additionally, participants are encouraged to get their schools and companies involved and to start a personal fundraising campaign on NextStep's CrowdRise page, http://www.crowdrise.com/Wh...

NextStep was launched in June, 2008 with a vision that all people living with paralysis and mobility impairments deserve to live long, healthy, and happy lives. Since that day, people from around the country and the world have come together to support us and join in our mission. But they want to do more than just donate, they want to challenge themselves, take their own personal NextStep, and fundraise alongside us.
You can do pretty much anything you want to fundraise for NextStep. Here are some ideas. You can run, walk, spend a day in a wheelchair, wheel in a marathon, 5K, trail run, mud run, triathlon, or other race. You can hike a mountain, pledge a birthday or anniversary, bike across America, skydive, play football, surf, or dance. We just want you to challenge yourself and have fun, your ideas can be endless. By joining the myNextStep initiative you do your part to make sure that we all have access to the resources we need to live long, healthy, and happy lives.
Challenge yourself, support a friend, start a campaign, wear NextStep gear with pride and spread the NextStep vision.
