I like these lectures but he kind of dodges the 'intuition for paralell transport' question. For the record, in the Riemannian setting I found it useful to think about it as 'keep the inner product with the coordinate vectors (v^i e^j g_ij) constant'. Of course that's totally circular if you want...
That said, the movie had a real comic book vibe that I really wound up enjoying. I think the unfortunate character fiddling probably represent the best compromise when the premise of the movie is to be a prequel to the rest. I figure the door's open to turn it into a proper reboot where at least ...
