NEW YORK -- the Radical Student Union occupation of the New School's Graduate Center (13th Street and Fifth Avenue) ended peacefully at 3:50 a.m. on Friday, December 19, 2008. It had been a startling and historic action. The takeover followed the faculty vote of no confidence in Bob Kerrey, described by the New York Times as the "embattled president" of the New School and a student campaign to expose the alleged crimes of L-3 communications. L-3 is a Manhattan based firm implicated in the torture of prisoners held in Iraq and elsewhere. The students involved in the takeover demanded the ouster of Bob Kerrey and one Robert Millard - treasurer of the New School Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of L-3. In this brief clip students from other universities rally outside the New School in support of the students barricaded inside - as members of the NYPD's Manhattan South Task Force look on.
