Concerning music I reckon the eighties and likely even more so the seventies, as well as the late sixties where MUCH more adventurous..,exploring new grounds in all directions. But the days of beginning bands playing ( and progressing) in government funded youth centre's are over. Nowadays the newcomer has to be commercially viable.Guess that's why we see the same sh*t everywhere.
At least that is the story were I come from.
