About this user

Self taught studio potter over 30 years semi-retired. I use a slightly modified local brick clay, fired cone 9 for my regular stoneware. For anagama woodfire I use fire clay and brick clay; both bodies about 10-12% feldspar and grog. My wife and I own a three story 7200 sq. ft. building in historic downtown Fairbury.
The ground floor is pottery & art gallery store front, workshop and kiln room. Upstairs is a 600 sq. ft. furnished apartment we let out by the day week or month and a 1800 sq. ft. studio apartment where Paula and I live.
I did wholesale flower pots for over 20 years, virtually supporting Paula I and our two sons, now 38 & 36 yr. old respectively. I always said it was dumb work but steady and it helped support the work I enjoyed doing more.
Since major neck surgery in 2004 I have slowed way down to mostly a hobby potter now.
