The mission of New Ballet School is to bring together children from all backgrounds by providing a professional standard of training, regardless of the ability to pay.

New Ballet Ensemble is the professional company of performers and teaching artists who appear on the main stage and in our schools where students are engaged, educated and recruited for scholarships in the New Ballet School.

About Me:

Founded in 2001, New Ballet Ensemble and School (New Ballet) is a Community Arts Education program that began with the conviction that the only way to raise professional artists in a city with high poverty rates and lack of access by a diverse population was to provide quality training at no cost to the family. New Ballet is a place where Memphis children come together from all backgrounds to find a common ground in dance where talent, dreams and goals are nurtured, developed and realized regardless of the ability to pay.

New Ballet programs currently include: instructional dance classes (New Ballet School), a professional dance company (New Ballet Ensemble), an intern Ensemble trainee program, a scholarship program, community engagement and outreach programs such as school/community performances (including the Orange Mound community initiative), as well as a performing arts incubator program that brings minority dance groups above the radar.
