Primus' "Pudding Time" on bass - LRRG zodiakiro... - 10,320 views - 1 year ago
I'm baaack! After my motherboard took a burn on Sunday morning (USB ports are not the place to put your power cord, I found out), I thought I had lost my computer for good. Thanks to my best friend, the Sloid, my computer has been completely resurrected (minus on USB port)! Yay!

In celebration, I played Pudding Time. Tough tune because the main riff has this combination chord, tap, hammer thingy that stretches across all four strings.....very hard to play without accidentally hitting an open string that doesn't belong or mis-hitting that hammered chord at position 7. I make both mistakes at least once in the tune, particularly towards the end, but overall, the rendition is passable. Don't want to take a chance on blowing my computer again (fingers crossed).

To all whose videos I have missed, I will spend the next week catching up. Sorry about that.

Rage Against the Machines' "Take the Power Back" bass, LRRG zodiakiro... - 23,384 views - 2 years ago
Another excellent gem from their first album. Rage Against the Machine's debut is an absolute masterpiece; in fact, there is not a crappy song on the entire album.

This one requires D tuning, by the way, and of course the original does not feature so many missed notes. The basic riff is actually fairly difficult to pull off consistently, as I make a flub here and there. Commerford is far more consistant than I.

Oh well...that's what LRRG's do...brave attempts that vaguely resemble the original.

Primus' "John the Fisherman" on bass - LRRG zodiakiro... - 31,775 views - 1 year ago
Another classic from the first LP, "Frizzle Fry". This tune is fairly easy to learn, but very difficult to master because it is nearly impossible to play the main riff consistently throughout th entire tune. First there is the sliding chord, then there is the constant up and down the neck. The probability of hitting a wrong note increases exponentially as the song progresses.

I ended up playing this tune 6 times in a row because I wanted to incorporate a little distorted bass in the appropriate places. Turns out that my foot is not that coordinated for working a one-pedal effects processor. As a result, the one finger that I use to play inverted 5th chords got injured from repeated dragging on the strings. Flatwounds would work better, I think.
