It looks good, but is not worth the benefit. The Royal Navy got something right for once by opting for the carrier version. There is no point in carrying around all that mechanical baggage when you can put a catapult on the ship instead.

No, the pump was designed by the British back in the 60s (for Blue Steel I think) and it was tested in the UK and Australia.

@Ecthaelyon It was never designed for dogfights, it was designed to intercept slow bombers over the North Sea at long distances. It had to get there quickly and then act as a weapon platform, a job that it did well.

Either way, they are no longer in service.
