@Crustydraw true night terrors are caused by stress, no regular pre-sleep routine (or a broken routine), etc. The child is not truly dreaming and retains no knowledge of the episode as the episodes start before achieving REM sleep. Your strictness shouldn't cause this unless it is traumatizing ...
