I would be very interested in how you might convey to us a method for judging how hard to hit a shot? e.g. playing a half ball black how does one provisionally gauge to come of the back rail 6 inches, then maybe 9-12 inches then maybe 2 foot etc...

I have just started playing. I'm a natural right hander in almost everything I do except I seem to have always grabbed a cue in the left hand and put my dominant right hand on the table. If I try to play right handed it obviously feels awkward but I feel the weaker left hand has less ability to deliver the cue consistently. Do you think it would be a good idea to force a switch to right handed and use the stronger arm to control the cue or stick with what is natural and work on the left hand hitting straight?
