Nederlands Dans Theater has been one of the leading dance companies world-wide since it began in 1959. Although all its dancers have been classically trained, it is contemporary dance rather than ballet that Nederlands Dans Theater engages in, at the highest international level.
Since 2004 Anders Hellström is the artistic director of Nederlands Dans Theater. He compiles programmes combining the gems of the company's own repertoire works by in-house choreographers Jirí Kylián and Lightfoot León with new creations by established choreographers and raging talents. Together they conjure up a world of beauty and animation in the Lucent Danstheater in The Hague, Holland.
Nederlands Dans Theater comprises two ensembles representing two generations of dancers: from budding talent starting their career in Nederlands Dans Theater II to full bloom in Nederlands Dans Theater I.

After seeing the piece "Signing off" by Lightfoot León in Stockholm 2006 I decided to wholeheartedly follow my dream of becoming a choreographer, despite the amount of critisism such a statement tend to bring. The choreography, the lighting, costumes, music - everything about it just blew me away. The best dance experience I've ever had, forgetting all about time and space and just being overwhelmed of the sincere beauty of dance - thank you for that!
