As the philanthropic and social responsibility arm of the U.S. credit union system, the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) raises funds, makes grants, manages programs and provides educational and related services that promote and improve consumers' financial independence through credit unions. Donations to the Foundation enable credit unions to help their members reach life-changing goals and help credit unions connect to their communities. NCUF grants, programs and services help create greater access to affordable financial services, provide widespread financial education, and empower more credit union members to build assets.

The Foundation also works to respond to immediate and unanticipated needs within the movement. In 2005, the Foundation served as the credit union movement's focal point for disaster relief contributions to support credit unions and their employees devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

NCUF is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of executives from the credit union movement as well as an at-large representative. Financial contributions to NCUF are deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.

With support from individuals, credit unions and others, the Foundation works day in and day out to make a real impact in our communities through the "People Helping People" philosophy that drives the credit union movement.
