Earlier this week, Teena Marie was doing an interview with LA program Paxstereo hosted by Mario Hemsley and in the course of the interview my name came up along with a mention of my music and Lady T said "she's awesome".

Lady T and I met on the Treetop we call Twitter (she's @MsTeenaMarie) and she's been gracious enough to listen to my music despite her incredibly busy schedule promoting her latest release "Congo Square".

I can't tell you what a thrill-of-a-lifetime it was to have the Ivory Queen of Soul say that I'm awesome!

Now this is a song you may not have ever heard. It's by one of my fave artists Ray Charles. He recorded a Christmas album in 1985 called 'The Spirit of Christmas'. It was a song I discovered on my own and something about it was just sweet and tugged at my heart. I don't think very many people have covered it, which is a shame because it's very pretty. So here is my version and I hope you enjoy it!

I'm sorry I have no video for this song... it's from my 2003 Christmas album 'A Cool Christmas' which has now been sold out. It was a limited issue item.

The first version I ever heard of this song was Nat King Cole's. Wow! I remember being 5 and asking my Dad who this was. What a voice! He told me it was a great singer named Nat (how cool to have part of the same name with him!) I mean, I was a little girl, but I was enraptured by this voice. I knew I had to record this. I do hope to re-do it with a HUGE, GINORMOUS orchestra one day. I mean do it BIGGGG! But I think this simple version still does well and I hope you enjoy it... and roast some chestnuts...it's fun!
