Oh man. I was 15 in '73 and dated the lovely Ruth King for one week before she just wanted to be friends. I was crushed and played this song so many times that my brother finally broke it. It's still a great song. Thanks for posting.

@not2shy2say I was in a record store - remember those? - when this was playing and I asked the salesman for that new Barry White album. He told me it was Bill. I couldn't really afford the five dollars, but I bought it. Still have the album and still laughing at it. A well-spent fiver, I'd say.

@Ruffrob Never noticed that before, but you can certainly hear the influence of Bell, Gamble & Huff... This HAS to be one of the top one-hit wonders songs of all time.

The ONLY thing wrong with this song is that it's too short: should last twice as long.
