Yeah that may be true about dogs being scavengers but i'm sure the inherent pack mentality in their instincts is not completely gone.. for example; I think it was in the outskirts of Chicago where they had this really bad ferrel dog problem where there were hundreds of dogs running wild and most of them once back in a wild situation were running in packs.. go figure. Btw i don't agree with cecsear milian's tactics either. A certified dog trainer friend of mine told me that combining strong alpha leadership with tons of positive reinforcement is the way to go. or at least that's how he does it..

Saying that, I believe it is more humane to train a dog (even using methods such as Cesar's "back-kick") than no training at all.

Hi! Thanks for your reply! I will definately check that out! I feel as though that type of technique may be necessary in some situations, but I don't like the idea of using violence with a dog that has abuse in its past. Violence may create only more fear. Fortunately, this approach seemed to work in the case of an abused pit bull Buddy, he did show improvement & came to trust & respect Cesar Millan... but is there a better way? Is there a way that is more humane, more positive? I will definately be checking that link out. Thanks. :)

I don't have a dog right now. I've been looking in the local shelters, but I haven't had much luck yet. I tried to get a border-lab x but I wasn't quick enough. I do enjoy watching the training sessions and comparing methods. The difference that positive training makes is amazing.
