About Me:
 
My name is Zachàr Alexander Laskewicz and I was born in Western Australia in 1971 although my unusual name reflects on an Eastern European family history. I've been a composer, a performer, a lecturer in places as diverse as China, Finland and Belgium, where I now concentrate primarily on film-making and photography. In retrospect, I've always applied my creativity to sculpt a sort of lens through which I can comprehend the world better. The best part of this arrangement, however, involves the fact that people can look back and see me, providing the chance for life-giving feedback which makes all the effort worthwhile. For some, however, my lens for grasping things is felt by others to be a sort of magic mirror which reflects on them in an unusual or even unpleasant way - that's a pity but experience teaches me to learn from such negative encounters. Film is for me a particularly good medium because it allows my interest in music, language, performance and theatre to come together in a unique fashion and provide new forms of metanarrative.
