Founded in 1988, in Claremont, California, National Academy of American Scholars is a private organization that sponsors merit-based awards for high-school, and collegiate students. We are listed in numerous books, publications, and periodicals. We also have a separate NAAS-NEWS division that covers local, national and international news. High-school seniors and college freshmen with a 2.0 GPA are eligible to compete in our NAAS awards.

National Academy of American Scholars, Scholarship Watch, NAAS, the NAAS logo, are all registered on the Principal Register of the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Section 8 and Section 15 affidavits have been filed affirming the use in commerce. National Academy of American Scholars, Scholarship Watch, NAAS, the NAAS logo, have all achieved Incontestable Status with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Unauthorized use or infringement of intellectual property associated with National Academy of American Scholars (NAAS) is a serious matter and will be dealt with agressively via a variety of legal and lawful techniques.

NAAS scholars have attended and graduated from the most productive and prestigious high-schools, colleges, and universities across America. NAAS awards are not limited to or confined to any particular college major, choice of school, or even religious, demographic, or racial group. We support pure competition and let the candidates compete against each other in a fair setting to achieve the best possible outcome. On September 1st of 2010, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office issued a Notice of Default to Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, Inc. Per Federal Rules of Civil Procedure 55(a), the default is evidence of and a legal admission that **ALL** allegations against Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, Inc. and its various collective members are true. The legal admissions cast serious doubt about the integrity and the legitimacy of the relationship between the Idaho State Dept. of Education, The Association of Washington School Principals, The American Academy, LLC, and the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, Inc. (a/k/a The Northwest Accreditation Commission) and all members and persons associated with Northwest Association of Accredited Schools, Inc. Federal pleadings assert these series of relationships are based upon accreditation fraud via trademark infringement, and deceit.
