I remember listening to this station back in the early 70s. Sometimes there would be literally MINUTES of dead air between programs. Given the quality of their programming at the time few probably noticed.

@celtickool I rather doubt it was done that way. I'm a broadcast engineer and I suspect what they were using was in fact a diplexer which blocks the signals from one transmitter from getting into the other but passes them onto the antenna.
