nothing beats the recorded version. and what's with that cutesey shit. i blame the guy at the piano for taking the rawness from Miss M and creating this vanilla singer. just name me a hit from "hairspray" ? and his lover created the worst of lupone's cds and a lousy carnegie hall performance.

charlo, i think the story of the early 70's cabaret scene in ny would be a great documentary. just the story of all the harlettes would be great. and just why did melissa manchester quit? and merle miller and wasn't robin on jeapardy? i wish bette was stil so raw.

well, she has succeeded in becoming the homogenized, pasteurized, disneyized vanilla performer she used to mock. so sad.

i have this production on vinyl, but i do think it is finally available on cd. it was incredible, wasn't it. can't we get ellen greene back to ny. i wish i had seen her in

"guys and dolls". unfortunately, we can't get raul julia back, but we can get ms. greene with some luck.

just watch bernadette peters do this. her performance stopped the show. she truly is an actress who sings. i've only seen a handful of perfomances as strong in 40 years of going to the theater.

she left new york too soon. broadway's greatest loss. she should have done the revival. after all lupone and peters have done their some of their best work in their 50's. come back ellen. broadway and carnegie hall need some great talent.

streisand should listen to this. this is an actress who sings. one of the most thrilling showstoppers i've experienced in the theater. so few. peters was phenomenal. i would have ended the show right after she sang this.

what a shame she didn't bring this to broadway. the diva with the most presence of them all.

saw her downtown in "joseph". so young. all of us. she was the best part of the show.

maury yeston has to be the most under appreciated composer ever. his music moves you no matter what subject matter he tries. ( exception is his Phantom). but listen to NINE, this show, and view "we'll take a glass" from Grand Hotel on you tube. it will amaze you.

treat yourselves and watch "we'll take a glass together" from Grand Hotel. tommy tune gave jeter a showstopper. it is so incredible to watch him move. it will make you happy, with tears running down your face for our loss.

just treat yourself to the video of "we'll take a glass together". i have never seen anything like it. the show wasn't great, but when someone or something stop the show, you never forget it and his dancing and personality stopped the show. the theatre shook. thank you mr. jeter.

boy this brings back memories of a new york nightlife that is gone. does anyone have any recordings or visuals of gotham, jennifer lewis, ellen green, or edie beale. boy, what i wouldn't give to hear or see them and to have new york back to being alive with talent instead of plastic and technique.
