Now little Serena's only 9 years old, tryin' to figure out why the world is so cold (I'm really 15 but I'm going back a little!) why she's all alone and ain't never met her family, mama's always gone and she ain't never met her daddy. Part of her is missin' but nobody'll listen. Mama's on drugs gettin' high up in the kitches, bringin' home men different hours of the night. Startin' with some laughs - usually endin' in a fight. Sneaking in her room when her mama's knocked out, trying to have his way and little Serena says 'ouch'. She tries to resist, but then all he does is beat her, tries to tell her mama, her mama don't believe her.
Serena's stuck up in the world on her own, forced to think that hell is a place called home. Nothin' else to do, but get her clothes and pack. She says she's 'bout to Runaway and never come back.
