Started playing around local folk clubs in the late sixties/early seventies singing covers, then started writing myself. Did some local radio, and played on the Pete Scott "Don't Panic" album. Had to make a choice between a carreer,and family, or music, and chose carreer and family. Still played at home, but wanted to learn jazz chords, and ended up in a jazz group for four years, which included the brilliant sax player, and then very young Paul Booth, who is now playing with Steve Winwood. Played with some great musicians during that time, played in the Edinburgh Jazz Festival,did a week in France, played for Mark Knofler at a private party, who thought I played "Nice chords man." which obviously pleased me, then pressure of work called again. Did a gig for a local historical society a couple of years ago, which gave me the bug again, but work had to come first again. Now with a son, a Sound Engineer at The Sage Gateshead, and a daughter an Accountant, its time for me to follow the sound of music again in my later years. Don't expect anything other than an occasional song or two at a local folk club, a couple of beers, and make some new friends.
Now the proud owner of a Terry Docherty Dreadnought hand made guitar, which will be used from now on.
