I agree with you on Johnny Winter. There was a time back in the seventies when he was really big. One thing that constantly hindered him were these bogus boot leg albums that people released just to make a buck off of some recording Johnny made when he used to clean the local studio in return for some studio time. I think he was only a teenager at the time and the recordings were really just left behind.
