I can honestly say that I'm from Texas and have been to a lot of rodeos and never seen anything like this. This is cruel but there is another event like this where a cowboy ropes and ties a calf called calf roping or tying. It is humane and used frequently on ranches for branding and other things.

Have you never heard of a double registered horse like a QH/ palomino? Palominos are a trait that can be registered because of the color along with the breed of the horse.
