Notice that nowhere in the ad does the VO say "Torino Cobra."

This car is called, simply, "Cobra."

Evidence:

:53 "Cobra, pure engineering." - not Torino Cobra.

1.27: This car has special Cobra decals instead of Torino badges.

1:51 "Sportsroof Cobra, hotte...

At :30 the fastback goes into the girls' legs. Very subtle there Ford.

At 0:16, snicker. 'Package.'

IIRC the "Model T" designation was essentially retroactive. When new, they were simply called "Fords." Hence the "Model A" was not the first Ford. Model T is sort of like "Coke Classic" in that it refers to something that, at the time, was simply called "Coke."

They should have kept this chassis instead of the Aspen platform. It really didn't weigh that much more, had a better front suspension and was a lot bigger. As mentioned, it has more passenger space than the Caprice of the day. They might have charged more for it because it was more in the realm ...

They softened it in '76. It was harder on earlier models. I think it got 4wheeler of the year for '76 partly because of that. I think the folding back seat didn't come till '78.
