@fuzzypaws17 This was one of my favorite top 40 songs when it was released in 1966. The 50's and 60's were the best decades for popular music as far as I am concerned. A lot of well written and performed songs which beat almost everything else that is being electronically created today.

Shea is gone...2-18-09
Just an hour after the last remnants of Shea were demolished...a large empty lot full of rubble is all that remains with a large CitiField looming.

@slapshot68 citi didn't want to pay the MTA (or vice versa) so the MTA renamed both the #7 and the LIRR stations to "Mets-Willets Point".

@F7railfan The F's also supposedly had better ride qualities than their contemporaries the GP7/9's although they were mechanically similar. They were more suited for road freights and passenger trains than for local switching. Both are true classics not unlike mid 1950's automobiles.

@gerbillisish That was the aftermath of the Union Square wreck in 1991. A drunken motorman ran a train over a turnout at many times the permitted speed resulting in a fatal accident. Five cars (1435,1436,1437,1439,1440) were damaged beyond repair in the wreck.

@cantecacara That car is an R7A #1575 which was wrecked in 1946 and its working components transplanted into a new carbody which was a prototype for the R10's which were the first postwar subway cars. It looks like an R10 but mechanically it is only compatible with prewar R1-9 cars.
