Make modesty your circumcision, and good conduct your fast. In this way, you shall be a true Muslim.

LIVING WITHOUT SIN

The Holy War is not an external event to be waged against others but our own battle against ourselves. We are all born weak but have the capacity to become strong through the faith. We have greed and lustful impulses but also a well defined conscience pulling us toward greater things. This conflict is called jihad and it is the most important aspect of life in this realm. Muhammad said: "We have returned from the lesser jihad (battle) to the greater jihad (jihad of the soul)."

A true Muslim prays in the mosque every day and on his own a total of five times a day. He also praises Allah after every prayer.

A true Muslim reads at least one portion of the Koran a day.

A true Muslim reflects on their death often, the better to motivate them to be selfless in life.

A true Muslim fears Allah and begs Him not to send him to Hell.

A true Muslim seeks forgiveness for his sins every day.

CHARITY

One of the great tenets of Islam is charity. Allah said, "Those who spend their wealth by night and day, in secret and in public, shall have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve." [Sooratul-Baqarah (2):274] He also said, "You shall not attain piety (birr) until you spend out of that which you love. Whatever good you spend Allaah knows well." [Soorah Aali-'lmraan (3):92]

A true Muslim cares not for money. He only sees it as a means toward an end. He views excess and materialism with the utmost contempt, often thinking of how that excess properly allocated could help so many of the needy. In this regard Muslims are the most selfless people on the planet.

Fudhayl ibn 'Iyaad (rahimahullah), said, "Beggars are such good people! They carry our provision to the Afterlife without pay me until they place it on the scale in front of Allaah the Most High."

NONVIOLENCE

It is a sad state of affairs when the beautiful religion of Islam has been distorted by some toward political ends. Due to being raised in desperate circumstances it is easy for some young Muslims to be persuaded of the "truth" of these proclamations
