Until the fast Csardas section Kogan's playing is still beautifully controlled and this video can't be called an 'edited version' only because the general tuning pitch has been changed to a normal 'A'. Obviously there were no other takes to choose from.

To play the Paganini ' Sonata per la grande viola' on this beautiful Amati instrument, would have been O.k.

Oscar Shumsky was the only one of the younger generation of violinist who was able to really play in Kreisler's style, vibrato and tone. Here we have a performance, I think, which Kreisler himself would have liked!!

I also have this Wing WCD 22 Cd. I am 100% sure. Mischa Elman is not the violinist in this recording. I think that it is Mehuhin from the 50s in good form.

Don't worry about your judgement of this recording. I am 100% sure this isn't Vasa Prihoda playing! This violinist has a completely different vibrato, portamento, sound production and style. This is a recording that was also issued under Prihoda's name on Podium Pol- 1004-2
