@jamieandrei The older elephant, the one with the guy, had been at a zoo for a number of years, and he was her keeper for years. After a long time, the zoo decided they needed to find a better place for her, and so relocated her to the sanctuary.

At the beginning you could hear the crowd start to get loud and excited; at that time, they needed simple, clear directions, and the announcer did an excellent job at that. You say "don't panic," and everyone (or many) will jump up and start screaming; telling them what to do instead of what not ...

well, if you're going to twit someone on their spelling...it is spelled Haflinger, not Halflinger. Lovely horses. My haflinger's a sweet heart, but I don't think she or I will ever qualify for dressage. She's a bit clumsy, and I can't say my middle name is "Grace," so we match on several levels:...

I know that I will get a virtual pounding for saying this, but I AM for horse slaughter in the US. There are thousands of horses still headed to slaughter, (I've seen the semi truck-loads of them) but now they get shipped to Mexico which has no regulations on cruelty, and so the horses suffer muc...

One good thing about Honey is her ease of loading...though I've not tried her in a two-horse straight load. Kado's looking good, and you don't seem to have too much of a gimp...glad you're doing better! Joanna in Montana (from haflinger yahoo group).

I brought a stray dog into my home once, and my dog stepped in immediately to protect my cat. The dog's reaction was faster than mine, and the stray dog payed more attention to the older female dog than he would have to me. Sometimes it is simply more effective to let the dogs handle it.

Rotties' tails are docked as kittens due to tradition; same with Dobermans. Dobermans naturally have lab-like tails and ears, and both are cut for the traditional appearance. I've seen rotties and dobermans with un-cut tails and ears, and they do just fine with them. If the dog in this video were...

Newfoundlands are not known for "mountain" rescue; they've been used as water rescue dogs for a very long time. You may be thinking more of the St. Bernards. Great video though; makes me miss my Newfie, Samson, who died at age 13.
