868 - No. of MSU Freshman from China
868 is a ½ hour documentary film that follows individuals from China who grapple with finding a place in a college setting and within the larger U.S. context. It will provide a look at Americans from a Chinese lens and at the building tensions that exist as China and the U.S. determine their global relationship. The film will also examine how relationships are nurtured and shaped across cultural boundaries within and beyond the crucible of college life. The story may also include how a university responds to a demographic shift
The tentative title "868" refers to the number of incoming freshman from China at MSU in fall 2011. The number is significant as it represents a doubling of the freshman enrollment of Chinese students from the previous fall. Moreover, the number places MSU in the top-tier of U.S. universities in terms of Chinese students.
Co-directed and produced by Troy Hale, Bob Albers and Geri Alumit Zeldes.
