I arrived at a Santa Monica Club called "At My Place" back in 86 to see him play. There was sign posted on the door that the concert was cancelled. I was completely bummed out. I never got to see him perform live. However, my former jazz trumpet teacher Joe Valenti told me many great stories about Chet. Mr. Valenti and Chet served in the Army Band together, and later did gigs with Chet and Russ Freeman in the LA area. Take Care. JT Wyper
