Mr. Saturday Night Special - a heartfelt tribute to the songs of Ronnie Van Zant - it's been a Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Band from Italy since so long: more than 10 years with almost same line-up but beninnings dating 1981 with the first gig of Saturday Night Special in the outskirts of Milan. A double live cd recorded on march 23rd 2006 "An Evening With MR. SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL": an entire gig in our hometown. At the age of 14 the first bending on electric guitar trying to do the intro of Searchin', the tracks of "One More From The Road" literally consumed and now, on that almost destroyed cover, the signatures of Gary Rossington, Billy Powell & Leon Wilkeson and the other Skynyrds when they came in Milano in 1998, the only italian gig tillnow: an interview, a meeting with our guitar heroes and an unforgettable show. Luca, Roberto and Tony Rotta within the band since highschool, gigs in theaters, schools, small open air fests and band contests and then ... Italian soccer team champion of the world for the first time in out lives: 1982. Some years of oblivion and then a trip to Louisiana but mostly Alabama and Jacksonville, FLA and the return to scene of the crime for a reborned Lynyrd Skynyrd Trybute. Gianni Melis on bass to form with Tony Rotta one of the most kicking ass rhythm section in town; Ruben on vocals, stolen from 20 years of country and bluesgrass experience because no one can't resist Ronnie Van Zant's Call; a young pianist that gives me chills when it seems that Billy Powell has just reached us on stage: 10 years of gigs reviving the legend of Southern Rock ... in forever devotion to masters Gary Rossington, Billy Powell, Artimus Pyle & Ed King ... IN LOVING MEMORY OF ALLEN COLLINS, LEON WILKESON, STEVE GAINES, DANNY JOE BROWN AND ... THE FREEBIRDS: RONNIE VAN ZANT & DUANE ALLMAN ... we are with you all, each and every note we hit on stage!
