About Me:
Current location: Scotland, United Kingdom
Hometown: Paris, France
My interests:
Nature and Her protection, camping, hiking, birdwatching, gardening, meditation and relaxation techniques, travelling, foreign languages and cultures, human rights,
First Nations History, Culture and Wisdom.
Japan: language, Culture and Wisdom :-)
Then art, photography, classical music, opera, jazz and books, books, books :-)
Films and Shows:
Old Japanese classics (Ozu, Kurosawa, Mizoguchi, Naruse, Kinoshita, Kobayahi, Ichikawa), jidaigeki especially with 錦ちゃん;
Chinese productions, anything with Gong Li;
European cinema, mostly French and Italian (Visconti, Fellini, Antonioni);
Argentinian cinema (anything with Ricardo Darín :-); quite all Woody Allen's movies;
I like very much Whoopi Goldberg especially in The Color Purple, one of the most beautiful movies ever made;
Native American cinema: Dances With Wolves, Into the West, Crazy Horse (with M. Greyeyes), Stolen Women Captured Hearts, Dreamkeeper, Smoke Signals, Dance Me Outside, Pow Wow Highway, Skins. And I am trying to find somewhere Lakota Woman.
I don't own a telly as to avoid brainwashing, stupid adverts and false information. And I completely boycott the contemporary Us "mass culture": I am not buying nor wasting my time to watch, read or listen to it, even for free.
Books:
There are too many of them, mostly nineteenth century classics especially French and Russian; for the contemporary authors definitely anything written by Alice Walker. I am also a great fan of Haruki Murakami and appreciate many other Japanese authors.
Music:
still discovering new things but always loving:
Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Eva Cassidy; Barbra Streisand; Buffy Sainte Marie, Mercedes Sosa, Leonard Cohen, Tanita Tikaram; Misora Hibari, Ishihara Yûjirô, Enka; Kitaro, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Ennio Morricone; la chanson française en général et surtout Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, Charles Aznavour, Serge Lama, Véronique Sanson, Michel Berger et France Gall, Particia Kaas; Lucio Battisti and also cheesy Spanish and Italian songs (everyone has their weaknesses ;-)
I am also a big lover of old black and white movies and I've got a wishing list ;-) If you have come across of one of those please let me know.
Charles Boyer:
Confidential Agent (1945)
John Barrymore:
Moby Dick (1931)
George Brent:
Mountain justice (1937)
'Til we meet again (1940)
They dare not love (1941)
Margaret Sullavan:
So Ends Our Night (1941)
Teresa Wright:
The Imperfect Lady (1947)

Besos!
I am looking for "The Imperfect Lady" too, because I run a channel for Ray Milland as well, ==> go to millandfan. So in case you find it first, drop me a note, will you? =)
Greetings, Gabi (who loves opera too)
Hugs,
Alejandra
