I have a 1936 Tula that was never refurbished. It isn't import marked and has the shellac stock. It is a round receiver one. Shoots great and is very smooth.

Can't wait to go shoot mine. I'm a bit unnerved though because it looks almost brand-spankin' new everywhere but on the stock with some worn finish spots. Even the piston and cup seem almost brand new. The rifle was probably only shot to be sighted in.

@yevgenz Now that makes sense... I will go ahead and set it for 1.1 to try it out. Thanks for the advice! Just cleaned it today and it looks to only have been shot maybe 50 times. The piston cup looked almost brand new. It is force-matched to the receiver by electro-penciling.

@osu67 Also, the SVT-40 he has now is $900 flat, after taxes and everything. He says it is near new looking, so it is probably a mix between a refurb and an original gun. Only reason I think this is because he says all parts but the mag match, and he will usually say if the gun's been refurbished...

@osu67 I've got 100 rounds of federal .30-06 that says it's made for the M1 Garand. I'm hoping it's good for the Springfields and P.17's too. Gun shop by me had a Winchester P.17 for $700, but I figured I could wait and find one a bit cheaper. I may get some more of those rounds if they work OK.
