Sean Arbabi is a commercial photographer specializing in adventure, lifestyle, nature, and travel - for advertising, corporate, and editorial clients. He has had freelance and contracted assignments with over 250 publications and 125 companies worldwide.

Credits include American Express, Backpacker, California Division of Tourism, The Daily Telegraph, Endless Vacation, Fuji Film USA, GEO Germany, Inside Sport-Australia, JC Penny, Microsoft, National Geographic Adventure and Traveler, The New York Times, Newsweek, Nikon Inc., The North Face, Outside, Random House, REI, Runner's World, Sports Illustrated, Timex, and Woodbridge wines. Sean has shot over 200 assignments for Sunset, over 100 for Via magazine, and authored numerous feature articles displaying his photography.

A native Californian, his family moved to Iran in 1972, and after living in Tehran for four years, returned to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1976 where Sean makes his home today.

In 1991, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Commercial photography from Brooks Institute of Photography, and began his business Arbabi Imagery thereafter combining outdoor, on-location, and studio photography.

Today, he shoots in 120mm medium format and 35mm, film and digital, and brings a background of on-location, studio, outdoor, and lighting skills and experience to every job. His assignment travels incorporate much of the US, with international locations including Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Southeast Asia, and South America. His stock image files, currently 400,000 strong, have been published in advertisements, books, brochures, magazines, newspapers, trade shows, & websites around the world.

Over the years, he has backpacked over mountain ranges, helicoptered above jungles, ridden horseback across plains and mountains, rafted down rivers, mountain biked along forest trails, sailed on oceans, and hung over cliffs, all to capture images he and his clients were in search of. Photography is his passion.

Sean is a down-to-earth person who is easy-going and fun to work with. He takes pride in being a professional photographer and business person, and feels lucky to succeed in a career that provides so much happiness.

In recent years, Arbabi's travels jobs took him around California, to the Caribbean, Florida, Montana, Mexico, New Mexico, the US Virgin Islands, & Wyoming. Recently, he has landed two travel guidebook covers, a pair of magazine covers, a catalog cover, wrote and shot five feature articles, all the while working on a tv pilot (with partner Eric Dyson) about photography entitled Photoguru with Sean Arbabi.

He also wrote a 225-page book entitled The BetterPhoto Guide to Exposure, in bookstores since January 2009, and in the top 50 photo books for over 8 weeks.
