About Me:
Despite of his considerably late solo-debut, Marius has been an important figure for a long time on the norwegian music scene. As a guitar player, with famous deLillos-bassist and songwriter Lars Fr. Beckstrøm and his Beckstrøm Quartet, underground americana-group Bob Haley, and the new and very exciting project The Humble Servants where many profiled norwegian musicians have collaborated and together formed a new norwegian "supergroup". As a producer at Sparkle Sound Studios, he has shaped and formed many of Oslo's up and coming bands and artists, and also partisipates on many recordings.
Now, it's time to stand for oneself!
"The movement" consists of nine songs that speak about commitment, friendship, expectations, pipedreams, loss, love and anger. As a guitar player much of the music is naturally based around his main instrument, but at the same time comes through as very melodic. Artists like Foo Fighters, John Mayer, and Billy Idol (!) are often used as close references.
One of the main thoughts behind this project was to invite many different musicians to come and be part of the shaping of the sound and the overall feel of the album, and that's why Marius invited so many of his current and former colleagues from different constellations. The result ended up as a very modern sounding, fresh and strong, rock album.
"The movement" was recorded at Sparkle Sound Studios and produced by Marius Kristiansen in collaboration with Håkon Brynjulvsrud.
After the album-release in January 2012, Marius is heading out with his band to do a series of shows during the upcoming winter months.
As part of the release of the first single, "Getaway", a video was shot at Kolben Venue by well-known norwegian artist and photographer Baard Ek. The song will be available for digital download everywhere october 3, 2011.
