He backed off on the power just when he needed it most. Weight shift microlights have no problem with CoG (within reason) Push forwards and as soon as the aircraft leaves the floor let the bar "float", keep the power on and she'll climb. You really should get instruction before you kill yours...

The first machine is I believe an "Index" single spindle bar fed auto. The bar is fed forward at 1.07

Anyone know why the port engine carb setup problem wasn't discovered at altitude during a thorough post maint shake-down flight?

As an ex owner of an aerobatic aircraft, I'd always go high to "wring it out" post maint. Never trust anyone that works on an aircraft, a bitter lesson learnt the hard ...

Std KTM is entertaining at 240 BHP. Up it to 360 like mine (BDM360) and it's face bendingly mental. As a Pro-Drive engineer described it "Weapon's grade motoring" :-)

The pilot was a Guy called Hoof Proudfoot. He was a very experienced guy who was in charge of flight safety on the accident day. There was talk of a control lock causing the accident. RIP
