You should look up an effect called sonoluminesence which is similar to this. The centers of bubbles collapsing in liquids can reach temperatures higher than the surface of the sun. This causes them to glow brightly for a fraction of a second.

Unfortunately, it's not available in my region, which is sad, because it certainly looks fun.

The ad is for the GL model, however, they picture the lower classed CL model, which was the only one with yellow indicator lenses, other passats had clear lenses :)
