The 5.4l modular two-valve engine was built in the Windsor plant, hence it can be called a Windsor.

If you will notice, the first and sixth throws are in phase and the second and fifth throws are in phase as well. It is a characteristic of nearly all inline six and v12 engines. This looks to be a v12 crankshaft.. These engine are really well balanced, no need for additional balance ...

For the automatic/manual transmission war, the manual is far superior in terms of durability and simplicity. The automatic has more parts and the need for pressurized fluid, thus it has so much more that can go wrong with it. Yes, they have their place, but autos are made for those who don't kn...

That transmission just happened to be bolted to the engine. It has since been replaced with a T-5 5-speed.

Correct me I'm wrong. The plane to the left was a North American P51C Mustang, to the right is a Grumman F4F Wild Cat and Curtis P40 War Hawk.

Even-numbered 4-stroke radials do not exist as there is no physical way to make them run smooth, unless you had an engine that is four rows of three cyliders each (three-cylinder radials don't have any power anyway). I don't know that a straight-12 would be even feasible.

Look up the Hudson Hornet and look at how many races it won with, guess what, an inline six. Inline sixes have so much potential, if you can make them breathe. That means aftermarket intake manifolds and headers. One can easily make a "hot six" with the right parts. Oh and guess ...

Ok, for all those arguing about explosion versus combustion. In a gasoline engine, the fuel/air mixture is ignited much like the gas is lit in a lighter. Combustion explosions in a gas engine are referred to as "pinging" and is very hard on the pistons. Diesels, on the other hand, are controll...

Horsepower is not as big of a consideration with these engines, so HP gains aren't necessarily needed. The big thrill of an inline 6 is the amount of torque it will give in the 1600-1800 rpm range. Those who've experienced it know what it's like.
