In addition, the AMT Hardballer was introduced in at time when stainless steel alloys were fairly new for autoloaders so they suffered from galling (friction wear).

Finally, Hardballer is an apt name for them since they dont seem to like feeding hollowpoint ammunition

That being said though, its not like they can't be fixed up, it just takes a lot of work, but at that point, you're better off buying other 1911s... Stay away from earlier Auto-Ordnance guns too, they had the same QC issues

You could say that about a lot of things. I didn't post to express my opinion or troll, just correcting a fact, and the fact of the matter is, you're getting worked up over nothing: assault rifles have been banned since 1986.

Funny you should say that, because a few months ago, I was trying out cheap South Korean 'HK spec' magazines, which kept double feeding on me. The guy next to me firing an AMD-65 laughed and gave the same "my gun fires in mud and sand lecture" half and hour later, his gun explodes, the front trunnion separates, receiver warps and sprays metal shards all over his arms. While picking him up, I thought to myself: "yeah, at least my gun doesnt do THAT, I feed it good ammo and clean it"

    FIRING 50 CAL.STANDING

  • mr153 replied to a comment from IMFDB 1 year ago

What do you mean?, Civilian variants do not have the push pin for the lower receiver, and are modified so that the sear hole is blocked with a shelf. Having a receiver that can accept a full auto trigger group already constitutes a machine gun so you cant just replace a sear and trigger group to convert it to full auto, they wont fit. you'd either have to buy a full auto or not

How the hell am I showing any disrespect, I'm just saying we need to make sure the money we're giving the military is being used for the military. If you want to pay your taxes, and have someone just pocket it for themselves, fine, but that doesn't run by me.

And don't think you're the only one that's been to Afghanistan

so slag off, I don't care

  • mr153 replied to a comment from branko2301 1 year ago

dry firing typically doesn't damage modern center fire firearms: especially those with a free float firing pin. The firearms that would be damaged are those where the hammer IS the firing pin (i.e. it strikes the primer directly) or rimfire firearms Glocks work sort of like a bolt action: there's no hammer per se, but rather a firing pin that's locked back under spring tension and sent forward when the trigger is pulled. (i.e. striker fired) its safe to dry fire striker pistols

How To Make A Signal Flare Rocket

  • mr153 replied to a comment from SeanP7195 1 year ago

Yah, that was a lesson learned from the M72 LAW in Vietnam, VC used to pull the pins on grenades, and stuff them into the tubes. The diameter of the tubes prevented the spoon from flying off. And the tubes were hung in the trees, a tripwire would fling the tube downwards, and the grenade would fly out, release the spoon, and kill the soldier. Of course AT4s are too big for that nowadays but who knows what insurgents can do with them... improvised mortars?

I gotcha, I thought you were just bashing the 1911 pistol itself.

The main reason I stayed away from Springfield Armory's 1911s was because of MIM... that and the fact that they were outsourced to brazil... not a country I'd want building my firearms, especially if i'm going to throw down ~$700 for one. Thats why I opted for an actual GI issue 1911, all steel, and will probably last longer than me if cared for, might not have the same tight tolerances as today's but... it works
