SAN DIEGO-In the ever changing landscape of clubs, bars, and hangouts on University Avenue there is one thing that is certain: the women of this community have yet to find a place to call home. But the status quo is about to change. On October 29, 2009 GOSSIP GRILL will open its doors.

Located on the northwest corner of University Avenue and Normal Street, Gossip Grill will be a chic, sexy, fun, dining experience catering to vast and diverse crowd. Masterminded by the original owner of The Flame, Chris Shaw, he and his team envision a place where women can gather, dine, drink, and escape from the day. Leading his team in a management roll is the extraordinary Mo Girton (Baja Betty's) and a second to none wait and bar staff has already been assembled. A lso on board with the project is Baja Betty's part owner and general manager Stefan Chicote. Bringing years of experience in operations, restaurant layout and design, Chicote ensures that Gossip Grill will be unlike anything the community has ever experienced. Not only will Gossip Grill be a business with a focus on being "green", it will be artsy, eclectic, tasteful, classy, cool, and ultimately hip. The menu offerings will be tasteful and vast, ensuring that palates from all walks of life will be catered to. Unlike many of the restaurants in the area, Gossip Grill will offer its patrons a number of organic wines and spirits.

Although female oriented, GOSSIP GRILL will be friendly to all walks of Hillcrest life: lesbian, bi, gay, trans, straight, questioning or confused. For the time being, we must be patient. Yet know that change is coming, and an exciting new venue is about to be born. (less info)
