He's the new pimp of the rap game, and got no love for, well lets just say for those who don't have love for him. Is it the swagger? Or is it the thickness of his voice that makes Don Juan irresistible? The hottest emcee to hit the rap scene since mix-tape battles, Don Juan brings a new flavor to hip-hop. He brings the art of hip-hop back to the streets and to the people. For most aspiring artists, the object of the rap game is to start early and grind, grind, grind, hitting every street battle, every open mic, every freestyle joint, making demo after demo just to get a jump off in the underground circuit; all the while aspiring to make it big. For Don Juan, his ticket into the rap game came about differently. "It's like cats nowadays don't need talent to make music", explains Don Juan. "I saw that there was a void in the rap industry that needed to be filled, so that's what I'm here for, to bridge the gap between the hip-hop legends that paved the way, and today's hip-hop industry. Don Juan tells a different story of how it all began for him.
Although he was born as Maurice Campbell Jr. on April 16, 1986 in the hip-hop Mecca, Bronx, NY, Don Juan took the late registration approach into the rap game. He didn't start fully pursuing rap until the age of 17. "I've been rapping on and off since I was 14", Don Juan remembers. "But my rhymes didn't start coming to life and making real sense until I got in the 11th grade". If it weren't for the experience in the school of hard knocks and the New York streets, this lyrical genius would not have properly developed into the gritty lyrics he spits today. Those same lyrics he so innocently spit as a juvenile began to come to life the more life came to him. And the more he watched his Uncle Yld Chyld (pronounced Wild Child) in the studio on lyrical escapades the more his destiny became revealed to him.
Currently located in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Has been managed by "Ikie C" former founder and member of Hip Hop Pioneers Zulu Nation's "Afrika Bambatta". Don Juan then started getting world exposure. Ikie exposed Don Juan to audiences & crowds of no less than 200-350 people on a regular basis. With all the success and hard work his shine is coming sooner then the world thinks. He is currently working with N.B.A's Dermarr Johnson & Kenyon Martin both Player's of the Denver Nuggets. This 21-year-old veteran is so ready for the world, the question is, is the world ready for him.
• Appeared on DJ Kay Slay's Drama Hour (which is Hot 97.1 the number 1 radio show in New York City), Countless airplay on Metropolitans 93.9 & 95.5 radio stations.
