Hello everybody, welcome to my little corner of the WWW..
I've put together a few videos that I hope you might enjoy. Just a few words about the technical side first. I don't have a video camera so I use an ordinary (and cheap) digital camera and record the video direct to the computer. This causes a slight problem called "latency"... the computer takes a little longer to process the video than it does the audio so when they are played back they are slightly out of sync. The higher the video resolution the more obvious this becomes. It's possible to correct this to some extent by nudging the audio and video tracks towards each other, frame - by - frame, but with the software I'm using (windows movie maker) it's not possible to move individual video clips relative to the audio track (or at least I haven't found a way to do it), so when you cut to a different scene and cut back it will most likely be out of step again. Added to this, the audio track is usually a mixdown of several overdubs, so getting everything to line up perfectly would need more patience than I currently have, and I'm not at all sure that it would even be possible with the equipment I'm using. So, for now at least, there has to be an element of compromise.
To distract from this, and to add some variety, I usually patch in some photos, many taken in and around the Killarney National Park in Southern Ireland. The pictures are not intended to have any relevance, just something pleasant to look at while you (hopefully) enjoy the music.
Mostly I like to play guitar, banjo and various members of the mandolin family, with an occasional light touch of bass and synthesizer. I don't really think of myself as a singer but I'll probably put a few songs on here too.
I have some more recordings in the pipeline and I'll get them up here as soon as they're presentable, so I hope you'll check in from time to time. Enjoy!
