Dennis Weaver kept wanting to quit Gunsmoke through the seventh, eighth and ninth seasons. At the end of the seventh season they brought Carl Reindel in for a tryout to replace him. He played the same character, whose name was Cale, in two episodes, this one at the end of the seventh season and...
