I'm absolutely charmed by the early goldern era of movies. I love the 1930s film mostly, it was the Depression, but such talented musicals were made by the hundreds, evening gowns displayed luxury, and the most extravagant glamour, I'm so inspired by their amazing fashion. I adore the 1940s film for those people in the dark alleys & beautiful callous ladies of femme fatale and that whiff of smoke arise from cigarettes and Rita Hayworth twisting men on a string. I'm inspired by the 1950s film because of that glorious technicolor, those movies with warmth, glow, color, and flare. To see hollywood turn gloomy rainstorms into a wonderful moment of imaginate creativeness where Gene Kelly happily sang and danced in the rain. Finger waves, pencil skirts, dainty pumps, tap dancing & swing created an entirely different world.

5.'There you are, there's the modern woman for you. Women! What should we do without them? I tell you, I love everything about them, their touching loyalty, their astonishing self-sacrificing, their still more astonishing sacrificing of everybody else, their modesty, their conceit, their preposterous dress, their ridiculous hats! Their silly little handbags with their pathetic little bunch of things they carry around inside, little purses, mirrors, sticky lipsticks..'- Ralph Richardson [Q Planes 1939]

Hello Emily. Such a beautiful page you have, nice to meet you.

No need to apologize, and anyway, having people like that walking out of your life is definitely not a loss! specially around the holidays when you realize who are the important people in your life :) That's why is such a joy to be part of the Classic Film community because what we see in these beautiful films indicates how much people have changed and how simple life was back then. I had a very nice Christmas, thanks, hope you did too! :)
xoxo,
Carol

Yes it is. Out of the Past is really the only one she's known for. Have you seen it?
carolmichellef (1 month ago)
I know, and it's sad how facebook is replacing face to face contact. A couple of years ago I was crushed when my ex-boyfriend unfriended me, followed by a breakup email! Ridiculous ... There are also privacy issues with fb, they're selling people's private information. I use fb but lately find it boring and unfulfilling. Food for thought, thanks. Anyway, let's enjoy the holidays with friends and family the old fashioned way :)

So here goes.

Hi! I am sorry I did not reply to you, I did not see your post... Anyway, thanks a lot :D I am glad to find people who are in fond of Classic Hollywood! You channel is wonderful!
carolmichellef (1 month ago)
Hi Emily!!! :) Yeah, I'm still here. I understand what you mean. It's so nice to get in touch with other people with the same passion about Classic Hollywood now and then but busy lives make it harder, the older we get I guess. Another thing is that you don't know them personally. I think it would be nicer if a bunch of us could meet at the Classic Film Festival, but not everybody can afford it unfortunately or have the time, like I'm very close but my schedule just doesn't allow it. Anyway, I'm happy to hear from you! now I want get a hot cocoa and watch a nice old movie! Thanks for visiting my channel. I see you have the new look, do you like it? I changed mine back because it covers my background. Have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!!
xoxo,
Carol

Thank you! ^.^ Aha, I see. :) It is Jane Greer. Most people know her from Out of the Past. Thanks again! It's so true what she said. I only wish the industry would realize it!
