@Samhwain Well I did barrel racing and pole bending for the majority of the time that I rode Western and the one time I tried reining I couldnt stand it because of the saddle! I could not even imagine barrel racing in a reining saddle. Yea you could do it, but it wouldnt be comfy!

More people should appreciate their horses like you do :] A great rider isnt one who can jump a 3 foot fence without a saddle, a great rider is one who appreciates their mount and just loves riding to the fullest.

but yes the air cushed whips are not nearly as bad! they still hurt though! not like a crop does. Again: not against it, just saying that they are not painfree!
