Monique was born on February 16, 1966 on Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, and baptized: Monique Spartalis. Her father is Egyptian and her mother is Danish.
She has listen to a lot of different music over the years. Growing up, there was quite a bit arabic and french music in her life brought in by her father.
But at an early age, she fell in love with the black music and singers. She loved Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway, Al Green and later on Chaka Khan, Ce Ce Penniston, Patti La Belle, Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston, Toni Braxton, Mary J Blige, Beyonce, Angie Stone, Oleta Adams, Vanessa Williams and many more ;-)
