I'm a railfan so i like passenger train vids, train crashes, horn blasts, cab rides, anything w/HHP-8, train passes, races, and trains traveling at great speed, but American trains only, they are different from the rest of worlds. P42's, HHP-8, F40 are my favorite engines so i look for those. Have a few videos and I'm slowly editing them. I don't have a tri-pod yet i can hold the camera pretty steady & don't expect too much horn action or SAAHC since I don't know any engineers and/or they don't always see you as they speed by in their tall cabs. But if an engineer see this, give a girl a horn toot, it'll make her day :)

The Metro North M2, M4, M6 and M8 all have humps on top of them. On some of the NJT tracks, there are some third rails. Since none of the NJT rolling stock or locomotives have third rail shoes, NJT doesn't use it. The PATH cars would use that. I don't think it would be possible for the M7 and M8 (EMU's) to push or pull the Comet V (push pull) because there are no under running third rails on NJT tracks.

If the cab or coach was with the Comet consist, I think you may have been in a Comet V. One of the major differences between the Comet V and the other older Comets is, the Comet V has a stainless steel exterior and larger windows along with the HVAC mechanism or generator that is on the top of the Comet V. That device looks similar to the humps on top of the MTA New Flyer D60HF articulated buses. Comet V's are not self propelled. They are cab cars and coach cars so they can't move by themselves. They have no engine or traction motors so if it was decoupled from a locomotive, and the engineer tried to move the cab car, it wouldn't move. I read somewhere that the Comet V has a battery that can only be used in emergencies which will allow the cab cars to haul the coach while the locomotive is broken. I am not so sure if that is true but if it is, then that makes the Comet V's a very unique push pull.

Alstom Comet V's are push pull cab cars and coaches built by Alstom. They are the successor of the Bombardier Comet IV push pulls and the predecessor of the Comet VI's (NJT multilevels). The Alstom Comet V can be found on really any NJT line. They also run on Metro North West Of The Hudson's Port Jervis Line and Pascack Valley lines. Alstom Comet V's are stainless steel single level push pull coaches. You won't find Comet V's on the Harlem and Hudson lines since there unique body or HVAC on the roofs are not built for entering Grand Central Terminal. They can be seen on the New Haven line only when NJT has trains that go to Meadowlands. Even though they sometimes run on the New Haven line, they don't access Grand Central Terminal. Just south of New Rochelle Station, the Comet V's would split from the New Haven line and run south on Amtrak's NEC heading down for the Hellgate Bridge, going through Queens and then going into Penn Station.
