Modjeski and Masters, Inc. was recently honored by the Central Penn Business Journal during their "Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies of 2011" awards ceremony. The bridge design and engineering firm placed in the #18 spot. The company's recent extraordinary growth is also reflected in its number 297 ranking (up 117 spots) on the Engineering News Record (ENR) Top 500 Design Firms list. This annual survey ranks the 500 largest U.S.-based design firms by design-specific revenue.
There's a reason Modjeski and Masters is one of the top bridge engineering firms in the world. It's not just the services we offer and our expertise. It's a simple philosophy: Know exactly what's needed, define the scope, and deliver on our promises. Regardless of the project's size -- whether it's a complete bridge design, bridge rehabilitation or bridge inspection -- we first lay a foundation of trust by asking the right questions. Then, we build upon it with an ongoing dialogue that extends throughout the life of the project. And when the analysis and design stages are completed, we'll provide support with construction, bridge maintenance and inspection. Our commitment goes beyond your project's completion.

Learn how M&M successfully helped LADOTD with the replacement of the entire I-20 overpass superstructure using one of the first applications of a unique accelerated construction method for the client...
When the Well Road overpass was constructed in the 1960's, it was designed to carry minimal traffic in a fairly rural area of Louisiana. However, with urban expansion, traffic in the area has steadily increased and necessitated a replacement of this vital thoroughfare in order to safely carry the increased loads. The LADOTD looked to a trusted partner in Modjeski and Masters to help design a replacement for the overpass.
M&M provided preliminary and final design services for the replacement of the entire I-20 overpass superstructure using accelerated construction methods. To eliminate long-term construction and closures on the overpass, our innovative solution resulted in an abbreviated construction phase of just a single weekend. This included the erection of new replacement spans on-site at a staging area within the interchange. In addition, substructure units were strengthened while the existing superstructure remained opened to traffic. Next, self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) were utilized to remove the old spans and roll-in the new spans. During the weekend lane closure period, Interstate traffic was routed through the interchange exit and entrance ramps. M&M also provided traffic control plans, special provisions, and LRFR rating of the structure.
This was the first time that SPMTs were specified during the design of a bridge replacement project for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. True to our commitment to exceed our client's expectations, the project was successfully completed one day ahead of schedule.
