@Oldschooldischarge Yeah, dude, Demonic and The Gathering were thrash-influenced death metal (Chuck's vocals are more aggressive and use of death grunts).

@tokiwartooth95 Yeah, but Exhorder's Get Rude demo wasn't groove metal, it was just thrash, but you can tell Phil's vocals on Vulgar Display of Power and afterwards sound like this.

@Radament123 No, Enter Sandman is not thrash, but neither is Mercyful Fate, Atheist, or Gorod, which all have been featured fairly often in this compilation.

@seventhdayfreedom13 Queensryche is so underrated. Most people I know barely even know who they are anymore. Operation Mindcrime is good, but Empire is my favorite. I think almost every album from Queensryche is good though.

@thewhitezombie666 Morbid Visions is very underrated, and it's probably my second or third favorite death metal album. Not that many people give it credit as a pioneer death metal album. Pleasure to Kill, Beyond the Gates, and Morbid Visions all came out in '86, but I ordered them by release date...

@endoheder Deftones is not screamo, just because they have screams in their music does not make them screamo, they are alternative metal/experimental metal/rap metal.

@xMassObliterationx Sepultura was primarily death/thrash/black metal from 1984-1986, then they became more thrash than death metal up until '91-'92.

@LeachThrashMetal the original lineup was Wagner (vocals) , Igor (drums) , Max (guitar), and Paulo (bass). When Wagner left, Max took over vocals and Jairo was brought in for lead guitar.

@Infernusism Max was 15 (born in 1970) , Igor was 13 (born in 1972). Pretty crazy how young they all were.

@DEATHMETALGAWD Igor Cavalera was only 13 when Sepultura released their first EP in '85. Pretty crazy, huh? All the guys in their band were high-school-aged, as were the guys in Possessed and Death.
