"Official" Bio:
Always more taken up with heavy metal and rock than classical music, Cellist/Songwriter - Mike Lunapiena marches to his own drum. He discovered the cello at age 16 and went on to graduate Manhattanville College with a BA in Music. While in school, he played in settings as varied as rock bands, off-broadway musicals, chamber ensembles, orchestras, fashion shows and more. In his time there, he began to improvise and write his own music.

In addition to traditional concert & recital halls, Mike is often found in coffee houses, bars, clubs, subway stations and everything in between. His unique style of music fuses influences from heavy metal, rock, Irish folk, film, classical and his own improvisational style. His music fits into any environment.

Mike has toured the US & Canada with Edensong, and has shared the stage with many of New York City's up-and-coming musical acts in famous venues such as The Knitting Factory, Webster Hall and The Bitter End. Some of the artists he's played and recorded with include Newbeard, Allison Tartalia, Lachi, Yagil, Symfinity and December's Fall. He has recently released his first EP: "Out of the Box" & plans to record his first full length album in the near future.

Mike has taught privately throughout the Westchester/NYC area for 4 years and is currently on the faculty of the Music School of Westchester. He is available for Cello, Guitar or Piano lessons in Southern Westchester or in NYC. He is also available for freelance work including pits, weddings, recording sessions, parties and anywhere else his music is desired.
